Prodependence Basics: Effectively Loving and Supporting an Addicted Spouse/Partner

These single-day and/or three-day workshops are designed to introduce spouses and partners of addicts to prodependence, a new concept in addiction healthcare. Envisioned and developed by Dr. Robert Weiss, prodependence is intended to improve the ways we treat spouses and partners of addicts. Prodependence pushes aside the blame and shame of the codependency model—which typically leaves loved ones of addicts feeling confused and misunderstood rather than supported and validated—choosing instead to celebrate and value a caregiving loved one’s willingness to support and stay connected with an addicted family member, while promoting healing for the entire family.

Out of the Doghouse for Couples

These single-day and/or three-day workshops walk couples affected by infidelity through the process of rebuilding trust. We find that underneath the hurt and betrayal, usually there is still love. Where there is love and motivation for change, there is hope for the relationship to move forward. In these workshops, Dr. Robert Weiss illuminates the concrete steps couples can take to rebuild trust, restore intimacy, and save their relationship. He also gives direction to betrayed partners on how to know when it is okay to move beyond fear, suspicion, and remorse to a place of hope and relationship renewal.

Corporate Sexual Harassment/Abuse (Cultural Change in a #MeToo World)

These single-day and/or three-day workshops examine and deal with sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace—especially as this involves C-Suite, Board, and other executive-level employees—from two interrelated angles. First, we assess and make recommendations regarding existing policies and procedures. Next, we assess and address, from a clinical and sociological standpoint, the organizational culture that either openly or covertly supports, fosters, and facilitates these issues. We believe it is one thing to be aware of and upset by a pervasive problem, and to remediate that problem; it’s quite another to approach that problem holistically in ways that change the underlying thinking that fosters and facilitates it. One tactic is retroactive; the other is proactive. We advocate the proactive approach.
